So you build websites then?

Before setting up Design & Space, I spent six years working in the New Media department at a large record label / music management company.

During that time I built countless websites - artist and band sites, label sites, promotional sites, corporate sites, online shops and loads more. Some were small projects where I worked alone, some were massive projects where we employed an external agency to work with us.

I've dealt with clients who have no idea what they want and clients who have an absolutely rigid idea of what their site should be. Awkward clients. Lovely clients. Clients who embrace the net. Clients who hate it. Clients with huge budgets and clients with very small ones. I've also been the client myself, so I know what it feels like to be the customer.

I've done 'panic' sites where someone's realised their album is out on Monday and they've not got a website to back it up. I've done organic sites that have grown and changed over a period of years. I've rescued websites that seemed impossible to update. I've wrestled domain names from people who didn't want to sell them. From 'can you make it look a bit more messed up' to gently persuading rock stars that a 5mb flash intro is not the best way to greet your fans, I've dealt with it all.
